WWW Wednesday

WWW Wednesday is hosted by Sam @ Taking on a World of Words! All you have to do is answers the following three questions:

What are you currently reading?

I am currently reading Middlemarch by George Eliot which was the pen name Mary Anne Evans went by. So far I am liking the characters and writing more than I thought. To be honest, I went into this book thinking it would be rather dry. It surprised me with its accurate and relevant portrayals of humans. I was expecting the observations and descriptions to be dated, but the majority of them really “clicked” with me so to speak. I can imagine people I know who fit the descriptions of various characters Eliot describes. One unusual aspect of this book is it doesn’t focus on one set of main characters but jumps around to multiple viewpoints. Their stories are all connected so far though, I’m interested to meet more of the habitants of Middlemarch as venture deeper into the story.

What did you recently finish reading?

I recently finished re-reading one of my favorite all time books – Greensleeves. This was the second time I’d read it, and it was just as delightful. I find that I enjoy books most the second first and second time I read them. The first time everything is new and exciting, the second time I get to catch all the things I missed. After that it’s still enjoyable, but less exciting.

What do you think you’ll read next?

I am extremely excited to read The Vanderbleekers of 141st Street. I’ve heard it’s like some of my other favorite children’s books (The Penderwicks, All-Of-Kind Family, Moffats etc.). Plus, I know you shouldn’t judge a book by it’s cover – but this cover is so inviting! I know it will be an enjoyable read.

    1. Really? Wow I’m even more excited now. I really liked the Penderwicks up to the last one. So I’d be excited to find an even better series. Yeah, I think I’ll be reading Middlemarch for a while. We’ll see where I’m at by the end.
